Summary:

Serves as Laboratory Liaison and works closely with physicians, nurses, and clinical research coordinators in the implementation of new clinical research trials. Assist with the acquisition of Informed Consent, on-going data management, and enrollment for the Pediatric Bio specimen Repository. Duties include, but are not limited to, sample processing, shipping according to federal regulations, patient interaction, study coordination, and follow-up data submission of research participants. Prioritize and manage daily/weekly duties. Actively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to ensure consistent use of Lean principles and processes and continuous process improvement

Responsibilities:

• Understand medical terminology and be proficient at reviewing electronic and hard copy medical records to evaluate patient's disease status, treatment course, and adverse events
• Responsible for working with Clinical Research Coordinators to create Processing Instruction Sheets for new clinical trials
• Accountable for correctly processing research samples according to study protocols and maintaining the samples in a sterile condition for storage or shipping
• Maintain IATA certification for shipping of dangerous/hazardous specimens
• Package and ship samples according to local and federal IATA guidelines
• Monitor freezers and refrigerators in which clinical research samples are stored and verify that temperatures are maintained within required ranges.
• Archive temperature logs for freezers and refrigerators in which clinical research samples are stored every six months and distribute to clinical research coordinators as needed.
• Assist with study monitor visits and site visits as needed.
• Understand eligibility requirements and participate in obtaining Informed Consent for the Pediatric Bio specimen Repository
• Keep frozen tissue archives organized and orderly
• Review database with Research Administrator and Chief of Pathology on a regular basis

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 2 years Related experience Preferred

EDUCATION

• Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience In any program that includes basic sciences or health care Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Certification for Clinical Research Associates Upon Hire Preferred
