Job Title: Lab Instructor-Radiology Education Trainer

Location(s): San Francisco, CA


Position Summary
We are seeking Lab Instructors to provide hands-on, face-to-face laboratory instruction for an 18-month Radiography program. The instructor will guide students in developing the psychomotor and applied skills required for clinical competency.

Working under the Program Director and in coordination with the Clinical Coordinator, Lab Instructors will facilitate small-group laboratory sessions of approximately six students in:

  • Introduction to Patient Care
  • Introduction to Radiography

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and supervise energized and non-energized laboratory procedures.
  • Teach radiographic positioning, equipment operation, image production, and patient-care techniques.
  • Reinforce radiation safety, ALARA principles, shielding, collimation, infection control, and safe patient handling.
  • Evaluate and document student skill acquisition using objective criteria.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, equitable, and well-supervised laboratory environment.
  • Align laboratory activities with course content and program learning outcomes.
  • Follow applicable JRCERT standards and student supervision requirements, including the 1:1 student-to-equipment ratio.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to students during hands-on practice.
  • Utilize standard office software and learning-management/clinical-tracking systems.

Laboratory Staffing Model

The program will staff six Lab Instructor positions to support six 3-hour laboratory sessions each week:

  • 3 Introduction to Patient Care sections
  • 3 Introduction to Radiography sections
  • Approximately 6 students per laboratory session

Instructors may be assigned to one or both laboratory areas based on qualifications, experience, and program needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field, or equivalent education/training and experience.
  • Current, unrestricted ARRT certification and registration in Radiography (R).
  • Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers.
  • Applied clinical knowledge of radiographic procedures, equipment, image production, and patient care.
  • Knowledge of radiation and patient-safety practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate psychomotor skills and objectively evaluate student performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and instruct small groups of students.

Work Environment
This is an onsite, part-time instructional position based at the Mission Center Building, approximately 20–25 hours per week. Classes begin September 8, 2026.
