Lab/Quality Technician

As a Lab/Quality Technician, you will be responsible for measuring the quality and durability of manufactured wood pellets and ensuring that feedback is given to Operations when quality exceedances are recorded.  This position uses knowledge of regulatory requirements to assess, document and make recommendations for quality assurance.

Your Day-to-Day as a Lab/Quality Technician. You’ll be:

  • Conduct analyses of samples and compile data to identify any out-of-spec samples using mechanical or electronic equipment, or through chemical analysis.  
  • Follow standard operating procedures in all areas of the laboratory.  
  • Maintain quality control tools and adhere to quality assurance guidelines; regularly audit and uphold laboratory testing procedures to ensure that all test results are timely and accurate.  
  • Implement and sustain a 5S program in the lab environment. 
  • Address issues, mechanical failures, and operational challenges with a Continuous Improvement mindset (MBE).


What you’ll bring: 
To excel in this vital role, you’ll need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  
  • A minimum of 3 years of industrial experience is necessary.  
  • Ability to adapt to both team and independent working environments with minimal supervision.  
  • Perform quality control inspections and complete the necessary paperwork.  
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and work well with others.  
  • Promote a safe working environment by following all workplace and job safety procedures.  
  • Knowledgeable in Lean/5S principles.  
  • Key competencies include: organizational skills, communication proficiency, technical knowledge, leadership, teamwork orientation, and problem-solving/analysis.  
  • Self-driven with the ability to adapt to both team and independent working environments with minimal supervision.  
  • Committed to working safely and consistently demonstrating safe behaviors and attitudes.  
  • Exhibits interpersonal skills that enhance a team-based approach to work and problem-solving.
