  • $18.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Paleontology Undergraduate Research Assistant will assist Dr. Ullmann and his doctoral candidate with the subsampling of modern, naturally-weathered caribou antler bone samples for three types of geochemical and molecular biology analyses.
  • Help image the specimens and process and interpret the resulting mass spectrometry data to determine how the bone samples were geochemically altered in their early stages of decay.

Minimum Requirements

  • Familiarity with Excel would be considered advantageous.
  • No prior training is required, all methodological training will be provided by Dr. Ullmann and his doctoral candidate after hiring.
  • Applicants should be undergraduates enrolled in-person in Geology or Geological Engineering as a portion of their degree, either as a major or minor.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
