Lab Shipping & Receiving Technician

• Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to complete data entry of submitted samples. (~50%)
• Collect and package media listed on Media Order form independently and ship media orders to clients. (~30%)
• Perform gravimetric analysis of air samples prior to preparation of sample for contaminant specific analysis following the labs quality control procedures. (~10%)
• Assemble and prepare air sampling media for industrial hygienists and external clients. (~10%)
• Written and verbal interaction with clients will be necessary to support media requests and sample log-in.

• First thing in the morning, review emails and media orders.
• For a few hours, analyze gravimetric samples or prepare media.
• When UPS and Fed/Ex drop off, they will open the boxes of samples and check the sample against the Chain of Custody.
• Candidates will correspond with customers and the labs Production Coordinator about any issues with the samples
• Candidates will spend several hours logging the samples into the labs LIMS system
• Candidates will prepare any media shipments that are outgoing and create a UPS label
• Any chemicals received will be entered into the chemical inventory system.
• They are sealed, unopened bottles of solvents, metals, etc.
• There is no exposure or handling at all and they will receive training.
• This likely will only happen a few times a week/month

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently are all strong attributes of a successful candidate.
• Strong organizational skills are required.
• Able to easily adopt new technology.
• Knowledge of MS Office.
• Familiarity with computers and able to learn various programs quickly.
• Knowledge of a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is preferred but not required.
