GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

In the role of Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong understanding of and commitment to program goals and ensuring accurate and timely evaluation of students. In this role, you will actively engage in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of students in the program’s lab courses. This includes organizing and supervising lab instructors and lab preparation to support the continuity of assessments and the integrity of student learning within the stated outcomes.  You will actively engage in the training and supervision of lab instructors, providing direction on skill-based assessments and delivery of the instruction.  You will collaborate with program leadership to ensure continual enhancement of the educational experience. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Program objectives: 

  • Knowledgeable about program and course goals and objectives. 

Preparation and delivery of lab courses: 

  • Create lab schedules for Brooklyn and Staten Island locations. 

  • Schedule and communicate with lab instructors regarding schedules and absences. 

  • Maintain schedules of lab instructors. 

  • Facilitate communication between instructors and students about makeup sessions.  

  • Supervise lab demonstrations for students during lab sessions. 

  • Provide lab demonstrations as needed to ensure accurate delivery of instruction of the targeted skill, and/or to ensure appropriate faculty to student coverage. 

  • Maintain equipment in working order and report any issues or repairs that are needed in a timely manner. 

Reporting and documentation: 

  • Enter midterm and final grades for lab course assessments in alignment with standard operating procedures. 

  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, performance, and activities during skill sessions. 

Supervision and mentorship: 

  • Ensures proper skill instruction and evaluates students' progress. 

  • Maintains adequate supervision of students during skill practice sessions. 

  • Supervises and mentors lab instructors and interns to support continued growth. 

Evaluation and compliance: 

  • Acts as an objective evaluator during skill examinations and evaluations. 

  • Conducts evaluations of lab instructors in alignment with standard operating procedures. 

  • Collaborates with the program director to periodically review and revise course materials. 

  • Ensures student compliance with institutional and program policies and guidelines. 

Professional development: 

  • Pursues continuous professional development to stay current with the professional discipline and educational methodologies. 

  • Completes a minimum of two in-service trainings per year to support continued growth with pedagogical knowledge and skills.  

  • Collaborates with the program director to integrate updated knowledge into the curriculum. 

Overall collaboration and communication: 

  • Effectively collaborates with the program director regarding equipment, course content, and student performance. 

  • Maintains open communication and promptly address any challenges or problems that arise. 

  • Communicates with all scan lab instructors on a regular basis regarding course objectives, assessments, and schedules.

     

EDUCATION AND LICENSES/ REGISTRATIONS/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required 

Certifications: 

  • Current registration/certification from a nationally recognized programmatic credentialing authority, and possess certification in any specialty areas in which they are instructing. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
