Lab Technician, 3rd Shift

Location: Beech Grove, IN 46107
Pay Rate: $21.00–$21.75/hour, paid weekly
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM
Weekend Overtime: Available Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, or as needed based on shift coverage
Contract Duration: 7 month contract, potential for long term employment. 

Overview

The Lab Technician performs routine analytical testing on in-process and finished product samples within a manufacturing and milling environment.

This position uses wet chemistry procedures and laboratory instrumentation to monitor product quality, document results in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), maintain laboratory equipment, and communicate required process adjustments to plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare in-process and finished product samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform analytical testing using wet chemistry methods and laboratory instrumentation.
• Enter, track, and report testing results using LIMS and Microsoft Office applications.
• Conduct daily process-monitoring tests throughout manufacturing work areas.
• Communicate required process adjustments to plant operators when testing identifies quality concerns.
• Retain, label, and organize product samples for verification and additional testing when required.
• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Operate equipment including pH meters, analytical balances, and spectrophotometers.
• Compare equipment readings against reference standards to verify accuracy and calibration.
• Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify supervisors when materials need to be reordered.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary 5S work environment.
• Follow all plant safety procedures and complete required safety certifications.
• Maintain compliance with FDA, cGMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and facility requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a science-related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. 
• Two or more years of science-related coursework preferred.
• Previous laboratory testing, wet chemistry, or quality-control experience within a manufacturing or processing environment preferred.
• Hands-on experience using standard laboratory equipment, including pH meters, analytical balances, and spectrophotometers required.
• Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
• Strong math skills with the ability to perform laboratory calculations and troubleshoot testing discrepancies.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
