LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY:
The Lab Technician provides essential support to ensure the smooth operation of a clinical or medical laboratory. This role involves assisting with sample handling, managing lab supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting lab personnel. The Lab Technician ensures that the laboratory environment is organized and operates efficiently. This is a dayshift position and is Tuesday to Saturday.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Associates degree preferred.
· Basic understanding of laboratory operations preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
· Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and maintain a high level of cleanliness in the laboratory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process and prepare patient specimens for laboratory testing
Load, monitor, and unload samples on automated laboratory instruments
• Perform moderate complexity laboratory testing following established procedures
Perform routine instrument startup, calibration, and maintenance
• Document testing activities and maintain accurate laboratory records
• Monitor quality control procedures and assist with troubleshooting testing issues
• Assist with reagent preparation and laboratory supply inventory management
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership and team members to support efficient workflow
• Follow all laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to pass standardized color vision test.
· Ability to lift to 30lbs.
· Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
· Ability to wear laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE) 3-6 hours out of the day.
ENVIRONMENT:
· Generally performed in a laboratory setting.
· Frequently exposed to laboratory samples, including but not limited to blood, urine and other bodily fluids.
