Description of Position
Assisting the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Faculty and/or Staff, this position is the skilled lab assistant for the various sonography classes. Responsibilities include assisting students with labs and other work as necessary. See below:
- Works closely with students to assure that they practice positioning skills using proper procedures and techniques.
- Performs skills assessments and communicates findings to the instructor.
- Responsible for the set-up and take-down of the lab environment
- Assures that the lab is safe, clean and organized
- Assists with inventory management and other duties as assigned
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
- Must be in good standing with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with specialized credentials
- Associate degree in related field
- Must meet requirements established by regulatory and accrediting agencies
- Skill in gathering, compiling and presenting information in oral and/or written form
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with staff, community leaders, faculty, students and the public
- Skill working in a diverse multi-ethnic, multi-cultural population
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in accomplishing tasks
- Ability to analyze situations, develop solutions, and make independent decisions based on established guidelines
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with college staff, faculty, administrators, and outside contractors
- Must be reliable and committed to student success
- Commitment to professional development
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Experience in training, evaluating, mentoring, and advising students
- One (1) year of industry experience
Essential Functions
Regular attendance as scheduled is essential to the performance of job duties
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 80 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating equipment
- Frequent standing and walking
- Vision requirements include close vision for detailed work

This part-time position has flexible scheduling, including days, nights and weekends up to 19.5 hours per week.
