This role works under a fume hood to mix chemicals for titration tests, pulls samples from CNC machines, and uses computer systems, including ERP software, to document and manage test results. The position suits someone with foundational chemistry experience who is comfortable working both on a hot, noisy production floor and in a clean, climate-controlled laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Pull samples from CNC machines on the manufacturing floor and transport them to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control tests on samples to verify product quality.
  • Accurately record test results and observations using computer systems, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Use an ERP system to enter, track, and review data related to laboratory tests and production quality.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols when handling chemicals and operating equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with other lab technicians and production staff to support continuous quality monitoring.
  • Remain flexible and help cover gaps in the work schedule when other lab technicians are absent.
  • Participate in on-site interviews and discussions with leadership to align on expectations and responsibilities.

Essential Skills

  • Foundational chemistry experience gained through college coursework or work experience.
  • Ability to safely mix chemicals and conduct titration tests under a fume hood.
  • Experience or strong comfort working in a laboratory environment with quality assurance or quality control responsibilities.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn ERP systems for data entry and tracking.
  • Comfort working in both a hot, dirty, and loud manufacturing environment and a clean, climate-controlled laboratory.
  • Willingness to support schedule coverage when other lab technicians are unavailable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and interpreting test results.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and handle chemicals responsibly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience mixing chemicals in an industrial or laboratory setting.
  • Prior exposure to quality assurance or quality control processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems to support laboratory or production operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and samples.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with laboratory and production teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and support different tasks as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates in both a manufacturing floor and a laboratory setting. The manufacturing floor is hot, dirty, and loud, and the Lab Technician regularly enters this area to pull samples from CNC machines. The laboratory is clean, climate controlled, and organized, providing a comfortable environment for conducting tests and recording data. The position follows a 2-2-3 schedule with 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. shifts, offering multiple days off within the rotation. The organization periodically provides lunch for employees, contributing to a supportive and team-oriented atmosphere.
