We are looking for a Lab Technician to join our Catalyst team in Savannah GA. Come create chemistry with us. BASFs Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces mobile emissions catalysts as well as process catalysts and offers precious metals trading, recycling, and related products and services.

As a Lab Technician for our Catalyst business unit, you will start a meaningful career and be responsible for conducting quality control testing on products manufactured by the BASF Savannah site facility in accordance with documented analytical test procedures as directed by the Quality Supervisor. The Savannah plant in particular manufactures and operates the following products: fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts, co-catalysts, and additives used by petroleum refiners to convert crude oil into gasoline, other transportation fuels, heating oil, and petrochemical feed stocks.

During your 12-hour rotating shift as a Lab Technician I, you will set up, calibrate, and operate laboratory instrumentation such as analytical balances, pH and ion meters, microwave moisture analysis ovens, microwave digestion ovens, surface area analysis, atomic absorption, X-ray fluorescence, and diffraction, and particle size analysis. You will also operate computer-controlled instrumentation and be able to store and extract data. Prepare solutions, standards, and buffers according to standard formulas used in analytical analysis. Prepare quality control production samples such as microspheres, zeolites, FCC catalysts, and alumina.

If you:

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Have an Associates Degree or Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, or related field, or any higher education.
  • No experience required.
  • Are familiar with Laboratory Analysis and math calculations.
  • Are willing and able to work 12-hour shifts rotating from day to night shifts.
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs carrying up to 25 lbs.
