Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated Lab Technician to join our Laboratory Operations team. In this role, you will prepare batches of urine and oral fluid specimens for testing. Responsibilities include receiving and sorting samples, scanning Chain of Custody (CoC) forms, ordering applicable tests, aliquoting specimens, and applying barcoded labels to ensure samples are accurately prepared for the testing process.
Key Responsibilities
Open sample bags and create accessions and batches.
Order the appropriate tests and apply barcode labels to specimens.
Scan Chain of Custody (CoC) forms, ensuring proper orientation and clear, reproducible documents.
Verify proper aliquot volume and hand-pour aliquots using bulb pipettes when required.
Identify and separate samples requiring additional attention.
Enter client and donor information after Team Lead sign-off, including noting any deficiencies.
Transport batches to other departments as needed.
Place and retrieve samples from freezer storage while maintaining proper chain of custody.
Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, health, and safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to interpret and follow complex written instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a team environment.
Alpha and numeric data-entry skills.
Strong hand-eye coordination.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Ability to bend and carry as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a laboratory or high-volume production environment.
