Job Description

The Fractionation Lab Technician (Night Shift) supports large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing by performing fractionation, purification, and production activities in a regulated cleanroom environment. This role cleans and sanitizes equipment, operates automated and ultrafiltration systems, performs critical measurements and additions, and completes documentation in compliance with cGMP and SOP requirements. The technician works collaboratively with the production team, helps maintain raw material inventories, and contributes to training other technicians while ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate operations during night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production and laboratory equipment before and after use, following established procedures and using appropriate cleaning tools and chemicals.
• Perform routine and non-routine production operations in a cGMP-regulated environment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and batch records.
• Make and verify connections on flow panels to ensure accurate product routing and process integrity.
• Perform pH and conductivity measurements and document results accurately to support process control and product quality.
• Perform chemical and buffer additions in accordance with batch records and SOPs, ensuring correct materials, quantities, and timing.
• Operate ultrafiltration systems and other process equipment safely and efficiently, monitoring performance and reporting any deviations.
• Initiate and monitor product processes using the Process Automated System (PAS), including chromatography steps using columns up to 80 cm in diameter.
• Set up, operate, and monitor chromatography processes, ensuring proper column preparation, loading, washing, and elution as directed.
• Take, label, and prepare product samples for in-process and final testing, following sampling plans and handling requirements.
• Complete batch records, logbooks, and other cGMP documentation accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
• Order, receive, and maintain raw material inventories, ensuring materials are properly stored, tracked, and available for production.
• Assist in training other technician positions by demonstrating procedures, sharing best practices, and supporting knowledge transfer as directed by leadership.
• Follow all cGMP, FDA, and internal quality and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and adherence to cleanroom and contamination control practices.
• Support general production and warehouse activities as needed, including unloading, general labor, and handling of materials and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments regarding production status, issues, and priorities.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet established production goals, timelines, and quality standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance.
• Respond to variable workloads, interruptions, and occasional emergency shipments or deliveries while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or associate degree, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work night shifts on a rotating schedule in a 24/7/365 operation.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds with proper technique.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve established goals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for documentation and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and accurately complete cGMP documentation and batch records.
• Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately and consistently.
• Ability to work in a controlled cleanroom environment and comply with contamination control requirements.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and after-hours work as needed.
• Comfort working in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment with potential exposure to chemicals, fumes, and human source products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a large-scale manufacturing cGMP-regulated environment with SOPs and cGMP documentation practices (preferred but not required).
• Experience in plasma fractionation, purification, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing (preferred).
• Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, medical assembly, or related regulated manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with GMP, cleanroom operations, and inspection activities.
• Experience with cleaning tools, cleaning chemicals, and sanitization procedures (preferred but not required).
• Experience with general production, heavy lifting, general labor, unloading, and warehousing tasks.
• Familiarity with calipers or basic measuring tools used in manufacturing or assembly.
• Comfort working with Process Automated Systems and automated production equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under variable workloads and time pressures.
• Ability to manage stressors related to delivery frequencies, volume of work, interruptions, and occasional emergency shipments or receipts.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment that is FDA and GMP regulated, with operations running 24/7/365. The position is for the night shift with a 5-on, 2-off schedule, typically working 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. in 2-3 day intervals, including weekdays and some weekends, according to a rotating schedule. The technician spends approximately 10-15% of the time seated at a desk using a computer for documentation, investigation of inventory and delivery discrepancies, and communication via email. The remainder of the time involves standing, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Work takes place in controlled cleanroom areas as well as general manufacturing and warehouse spaces, with required use of appropriate PPE. The environment may include exposure to airborne particles, caustics, chemicals, fumes, human source products, odors, and other conditions typical of manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse facilities. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required, and limited travel to offsite warehouses by personal or company vehicle may occur. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Deerfield Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
