Laboratory Technician

Location:  Hudson, NY
Pay:  $23/hour
2-3 month contract with possibility of converting to permanent
Rotating shift: 7-3, 3-11, 11-7

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for conducting a variety of tests to ensure the quality and compliance of products with company and customer standards. The position plays a crucial part in supporting daily lab operations within a manufacturing environment, maintaining equipment, and accurately documenting results in designated systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests and data analysis for production, quality control, and minor research purposes.
  • Evaluate products to confirm adherence to plant and customer specifications before release.
  • Authorize release of compliant products and report any discrepancies.
  • Accurately document test results, readings, and observations in designated systems.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and field instrumentation.
  • Conduct specialized tests such as Vomitoxin testing, farinograph analysis, and NIR diagnostics as per the schedule.
  • Collect and prepare samples for starch, moisture, microbiological, and protein testing.
  • Perform metal detector checks and sanitation tasks according to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Adhere to all HACCP, FDA, GMP, EPA, OSHA, and company standards and guidelines.
  • Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding and compliance with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.
  • Proficiency in using lab instrument operation programs and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Math skills for performing calculations related to lab testing.
  • Knowledge of HACCP is a plus.
  • Reliable attendance, with flexibility to work weekends or holidays as needed.
  • Must be a US Citizen
