Lab Technician, R&D

Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Lab Technician will support the R&D departments (Core, Targeted, Outer Nutrition, and Sensory) by conducting experiments, formulations, and sensory activities in the R&D lab employing the disciplines of pharmaceutical, food and/or cosmetic sciences.  Maintain the workspace, equipment and inventory of various locations.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:  

•    Document all experiments and results in a laboratory notebook.
•    Assist scientists/ product developers to prepare samples for internal and external evaluation. 
•    Evaluate/test physical properties and characteristics for tablets, capsules, powders and liquids, etc
•    Maintain laboratory workspace, lab equipment, and inventory in an operable, clean, and organize condition.
•    Create orders and stock all R&D labs with product, raw materials, and supplies for day to day usage.
•    Follow and enforce laboratory procedures such as cGMP, ASTM, SOP, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices). 
•    Ability to travel for pilot batching, testing, sampling, and consumer work.
•    Support the design, coordination, and execution of R&D based research in response to business needs to satisfy corporate objectives. (i.e. Cuttings, Employee Testing, CLT, HUT, Event Support, Pilots).
•    Coordinate, prepare, ship, track, and record on a tracking file samples/products worldwide.
•    Ensure all testing, documentations, and files are properly completed for each project.
•    Support the daily technical project activities as defined by supervisory staff with little to no guidance.
•    Job duties include labeling, weighing materials, preparing samples, lab organization, cleaning, and basic inventory management. 
•    Ability to follow instructions.
•    Maintain lab supplies, RM inventory, Lab notebook, Calibration log book, receiving’s and outgoing logs.
•    Follow up on submitted tests.
•    Flexibility for various tasks not described above as business needs arises.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

•    Ability to organize workload, prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines for deliverables and multitask on several projects individually as well as in a team environment
•    Maintain, calibrate, clean laboratory equipment according to equipment instructions and SOP
•    Ability to quickly learn and implement new computer based systems and experimental techniques
•    Strong problem solving skills and ability to carry out assignments under general supervision.
•    Knowledge of cGMP, ASTM, SOP, and GLP
•    Ability to generate and record data
•    Ability use of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Experience:

•    2 year related industry experience, specifically in the pharmaceutical, foods or nutraceutical industry

Education:

•    High School Diploma
