The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Lab Technician for a prominent client of ours. This position is located at Santa Clara, CA. Details for the position are as follows:

Job Description
- Support daily operations within a network lab or data center environment.
- Perform rack-and-stack activities and configure physical network topologies.
- Install, route, organize, and maintain copper and fiber cabling and patch panel connections.
- Enable remote lab access using SSL VPN, RDP, VNC, or VMware View Client.
- Audit physical and virtual devices, including IP addresses, serial numbers, and connectivity.
- Monitor and manage ticket queues, SLA priorities, and technical requests.
- Troubleshoot basic network outages and connectivity issues.
- Maintain lab documentation, device inventories, and network connection records.
- Monitor lab power and cooling usage and identify related operational issues.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Required Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in a lab or data center environment.
- Basic network administration.
- Rack and stack of network/server equipment.
- Data center cable management and installation.
- Copper and fiber-optic cabling identification and installation.
- Patch panel connections and cable routing.
- Basic Windows administration.
- Basic VMware administration, including powering VMs on/off.
- Basic Linux administration with CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions.
- SSH and console access to network devices.
- Network device and connectivity documentation.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista switches.
- Firewall administration or troubleshooting.
- Basic network outage troubleshooting.
- SSL VPN, RDP, VNC, or VMware View Client.
- Network topology setup in engineering or support labs.
- Understanding of data center power and cooling requirements.
- Ticket queue administration and SLA-based prioritization.
