Laboratory Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support quality control and laboratory operations in a manufacturing environment producing consumer and chemical products, including toilet bowl cleaners, bleach, and dry pool tablets.

This role is responsible for collecting samples, performing laboratory testing, documenting results, and ensuring products meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Schedule

Training

• 1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Training period: Approximately 2-4 weeks

Current Openings

• 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Future Growth

• Facility plans to transition to a 3-shift operation within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Collect production samples from manufacturing lines every 3 hours.

• Perform quality testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

• Conduct laboratory analyses, including:

• Moisture testing

• pH testing

• Viscosity testing

• Basic microbiological testing

• Collect and analyze water samples.

• Operate FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) equipment.

• Accurately record and maintain laboratory test results.

• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and laboratory procedures.

• Communicate quality concerns, deviations, and test results to appropriate teams.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

• Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor"s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field preferred.
• 1+ year of laboratory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems proactively.
• Comfortable working in both laboratory and production environments.

Preferred

• Experience with FTIR instrumentation.
• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, chemical, or quality laboratories.
• Exposure to microbiological testing methods.
• Recent graduates with relevant lab coursework, internships, or research experience are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout a manufacturing facility.
• Ability to collect samples from production areas.
• Ability to lift sample containers and laboratory materials as needed.
• Must comply with facility PPE and safety requirements, including steel-toe footwear when required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wixom, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
