Actively Screening for Lab Technologist to join medical laboratory in Norcross, GA!

Job Description

The Lab Technologist performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to support accurate and timely diagnostic and analytical results. This role follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operates laboratory equipment within quality control limits, and maintains clear communication with departmental and laboratory services personnel. The position supports increased testing volumes and contributes to a growing laboratory environment that is expanding its microbiology testing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing assigned to the department in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to perform duties effectively.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the department and other laboratory services personnel to support coordinated workflows.
  • Competently perform all assigned departmental duties, including pre-analytical tasks such as receipt, qualification, and preparation of samples for testing.
  • Perform CLIA-waived tests and moderate and/or high complexity testing on patient samples, donor samples, or biologic products using routine chemistries and automated or semi-automated methods with internal support systems.
  • Recognize unusual or unexpected test results and report them in a timely manner to appropriate management or designated personnel.
  • Operate laboratory equipment using established protocols and ensure operation remains within defined quality control limits.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and technical problems, and take appropriate steps to troubleshoot, escalate, or resolve issues.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records, including performing computer data entry for test results and related information.
  • Monitor and maintain departmental supplies within established inventory levels to support uninterrupted laboratory operations.
  • Support a positive, clean, and organized laboratory environment that aligns with the laboratory's growth and technology-focused operations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a Life Science discipline, such as biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • 0-1 year of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
  • Foundational knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures in a life sciences environment.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and biology as applied to laboratory testing.
  • Ability to perform pre-analytical tasks, including receipt, qualification, and preparation of samples for testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Interest in working in an advanced technology laboratory environment that is expanding microbiology testing capabilities.
  • Experience or coursework in microbiology is beneficial as the laboratory builds out microbiology testing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume testing environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, sample workflows, and documentation requirements.
  • Willingness to work in a contract role with potential for full-time consideration based on performance, recognizing that conversion is not guaranteed.
  • Openness to frequent performance feedback, including structured performance reviews approximately every six weeks.
  • Comfort working with internal support systems and automated processes in a large laboratory setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a combined warehouse and laboratory environment within a large, well-lit, and clean facility designed to support advanced technology laboratory operations. The laboratory maintains a positive and professional working atmosphere with a focus on quality, safety, and growth, including the expansion of microbiology testing capabilities. The position follows a fixed shift schedule of Sunday to Tuesday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a rotating Wednesday component as needed. Training is scheduled for Sunday to Tuesday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, although the training schedule may change based on operational needs. The work involves operating automated and semi-automated laboratory equipment, handling patient, donor, and biologic samples, and working within defined quality control and SOP-driven processes.

This is a Contract position based out of Norcross, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
