Job Title: Machine Operator

Pay Rate: $19-25/hr.

Shift: 1st (Open to working 12hrs)

Job Summary:

The Label Machine Operator is a skilled technician who controls light or heavy machinery in various fields and uses their in-depth knowledge to process tasks including producing goods or making repairs. Operators need to pay attention to detail and to concentrate and be precise in their work. Operator must use Lock Out Tag Out procedures. Operator must be able to train others on the operation of the machine.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Use an IPAD to access our Redzone technology system and communicate issues and generate downtime reports for the line.
  • Responsible for controlling the operation of the label machine used during the production process.
  • Perform 5S duties and audits.
  • Set up and operate a label machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure that product traceability is always attained through documentation and proper labeling.
  • Meets production schedules.
  • Order and verify materials per order.
  • Run orders per product specifications and standard practices.
  • Safely perform routine set-up and changeover of the machine.
  • Accurately capture and record necessary operating data, including downtime causes and performance to plan.
  • Inspect general appearance of the finished product.
  • Label and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices.
  • Keep the work area supplied with necessary packaging materials.
  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations.
  • Follow all appropriate procedures for the accumulation, labeling, solid waste compacting, on-site transportation, storage, and inspection of materials designated as hazardous waste per Environmental Control Instructions.
  • Participate in group problem solving teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • On the job training available
  • Three (3) years experience in a food production facility is required.
  • One years experience in a technical service or QA role, preferred.
  • Ability to learn Redzone technology system.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment.
  • Follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs., stand on feet for prolonged periods of time and climb stairs as needed.
  • Equipment noise is elevated requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • Seasonal temperatures can be expected.
