LABOR & EMPLOYMENT ASSOCIATE OR COUNSEL ATTORNEY

A leading Southeastern law firm is seeking an ambitious Associate Attorney or Counsel to join its Employment & Benefits Practice Group in Charleston, South Carolina.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work with an experienced team representing employers in a broad range of employment litigation and counseling matters. The position offers meaningful client interaction, hands-on responsibility, strong mentorship, and a collaborative environment focused on professional growth and long-term success.


Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction, in good standing
  • 4+ years of substantive experience in labor & employment law a sophisticated law firm setting
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, and related workplace disputes.
  • Strong experience representing employers in administrative agency proceedings and state and federal court litigation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in legal research, discovery management, motions practice, depositions, and case strategy development.
  • Ability to provide practical and business-focused employment counseling to clients.
  • Experience managing multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, sound judgment, and a client-service-oriented approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in employment-related disputes before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, motions, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Advise clients on employment law compliance and workplace risk management issues.
  • Counsel employers on matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, employee discipline, and termination issues.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across the Labor & Employment Practice Group to develop litigation strategies and provide comprehensive client service.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive and practical legal guidance.

  • Salary: Expected base salary range of $200,000+, determined by experience and market factors
