Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking for a Stainless Steel Finisher for a Metal Fabricating company located in NW Portland, OR.

• The Stainless Steel Finisher is a skilled professional responsible for the final polishing, cleaning, and finishing of stainless steel products to achieve a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing appearance. This role involves working with various types of stainless steel materials and using specialized tools and techniques to enhance the surface finish and overall presentation of the products. The Stainless Steel Finisher collaborates closely with other members of the manufacturing or production team to ensure that finished products meet or exceed quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Polishing and Finishing: Perform polishing, buffing, grinding, and other finishing techniques on stainless steel products to achieve desired surface textures and reflective qualities.

• Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare stainless steel surfaces for finishing by removing contaminants, oxides, or imperfections using appropriate cleaning agents, abrasives, and tools.

• Inspection: Inspect finished stainless steel products for quality, ensuring that they meet established standards for appearance, smoothness, and uniformity of finish.

• Tool Maintenance: Maintain and clean polishing tools, abrasives, and equipment to ensure consistent and effective finishing results.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while working with polishing compounds, abrasives, and power tools to prevent accidents and injuries.

• Material Knowledge: Understand different types of stainless steel alloys and their properties to select appropriate finishing methods and techniques.

• Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, including welders, fabricators, and quality control personnel, to coordinate efforts and achieve the desired final product.

• Quality Assurance: Assist in maintaining quality control records, documenting processes, and suggesting improvements to enhance product quality and finishing efficiency.

• Problem Solving: Identify and address any issues that may arise during the finishing process, such as scratches, blemishes, or inconsistencies, and take appropriate corrective actions.

• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new techniques, technologies, and industry trends related to stainless steel finishing.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training in metalworking or a related field is a plus).

• Proven experience as a stainless steel finisher or in a similar role within metal fabrication, manufacturing, or related industries.

• Proficiency in using various finishing tools and equipment, such as polishing wheels, belt sanders, grinders, and buffing machines.

• Understanding of different stainless steel grades, surface finishes, and their corresponding applications.

• Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics to ensure consistent, high-quality finishing results.

• Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.

• Knowledge of safety protocols and practices when working with power tools and chemicals.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Problem-solving skills to identify and address finishing-related challenges.
