Position Title:

Labor Relations Assistant-Labor Relations-Mount Sinai Health System-Full Time-Days

Position Summary:

The Labor Relations Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the hospital's Labor Relations team. This entry-level position assists with scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and providing customer service to staff and union representatives. The role ensures the smooth daily operation of labor relations activities within a large, unionized hospital system.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Labor Relations office by answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing calls or visitors appropriately.

  • Schedule grievance hearings, labor-management meetings, and arbitration sessions; coordinate meeting logistics, collects supporting evidence from management, reviews, redacts patient identifiers and prepares materials.

  • Maintain organized filing systems-both electronic and paper files-for contracts, grievances, and labor documentation.

  • Assist in tracking grievance and disciplinary actions under the guidance of Labor Relations staff.

  • Prepare routine correspondence, meeting notes, and reports as directed.

  • Update tracking spreadsheets, contact lists, and department calendars. Tracks employee, corporate compliance complaints, documents follow up and close out of investigation outcome.

  • Support Labor Relations staff with preparing packets for negotiations and maintaining document confidentiality.

  • Coordinate messenger and mail services for time-sensitive labor relations materials.

  • Perform general office duties including photocopying, scanning, data entry, and inventory of office supplies.

  • Assists with investigation of employee issues.

  • Familiar with provisions of the collective bargaining agreements and provides direction as required.

  • Collects and manipulates data to generate various reports

  • Completes assigned Labor Relations projects, as needed, such as year-end data reports.

  • Occasional travel between hospital campuses may be required.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or some college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree highly preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of clerical or office support experience; experience in a hospital or unionized setting a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HR or case management systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Compensation Statement:

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $17.29 - $25.94 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
