Support daily operations, procurement, inventory, and compliance at the Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Collaborate across teams to improve processes and advance veterinary diagnostics and public health.

About This Role

The Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KVDL) is at the forefront of animal and public health, serving a wide-ranging community that includes livestock producers, veterinarians, pet owners, zoos, and public health partners. This dynamic position is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations and inventory and procurement systems that are critical to the laboratory's success.

In this multifaceted role, you will help drive the daily operational support of KVDL while serving as a key partner to the KVDL Director and laboratory leadership. Responsibilities include coordinating laboratory operational activities, supporting regulatory reporting and compliance efforts, serving as a central point of communication between laboratory sections and external partners, and helping ensure the laboratory operates efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with university, state, and federal requirements.

Beyond daily operations, this position offers the chance to contribute to impactful initiatives involving laboratory programs, training, process improvement, quality management systems, audits, and biosafety. You’ll collaborate across KVDL sections to support laboratory workflows, strengthen operational effectiveness, and advance the laboratory's mission of excellence in veterinary diagnostics and public health.

This role also plays an important part in supporting laboratory personnel and programs through recruitment and onboarding activities, regulatory correspondence, reporting, presentations, and special projects. In addition, you will work closely with laboratory sections to coordinate procurement, inventory management, and the acquisition, distribution, and organization of laboratory supplies and equipment necessary for diagnostic testing.

KVDL is looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive, service-oriented, and excited to learn in a collaborative environment where no two days are the same. If you thrive in a role that blends operational coordination, communication, problem-solving, and mission-driven work, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
