The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant I for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Athens, GA. Details for the position are as follows:
Laboratory Assistant I
Location: Athens, GA Pay Rate: $28.19/hour W2 Duration: 12 Months
Job Description
Support daily parasitology research and laboratory operations, including insect husbandry and rearing.
Perform routine insect rearing and maintenance activities independently after training.
Support internal drug screening through reagent preparation, consumables management, and assay execution.
Monitor laboratory equipment, maintenance schedules, and supplies; coordinate supply orders.
Handle laboratory materials including receipt, storage, and disposal according to established procedures.
Operate basic laboratory automation software and equipment with increasing independence.
Perform work in accordance with laboratory safety requirements, regulatory expectations, and Good Scientific Practice standards.
Education
College coursework in Biology or equivalent.
Advanced degrees (MS or PhD) are not eligible for this position.
Required Skills
Experience with insect or ectoparasite rearing and maintenance.
Hands-on insect husbandry experience.
Aseptic technique.
Laboratory experience with reagent preparation and assay execution.
Experience handling, storing, and disposing of laboratory materials.
English fluency.
Preferred Skills
Parasitology research experience.
Drug screening assay experience.
Laboratory automation software and equipment experience.
Laboratory equipment and supply tracking experience.
