Position: Laboratory Glassware Support Specialist
Location: 777 Old Saw Mill Rd., Tarrytown, NY 10591
Duration: 12-Month Contract (with potential for extension or full-time conversion)
Compensation: $28.00/hr (W2) + Benefits

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientific Services Support professional to join a dynamic laboratory services team supporting daily scientific operations. This position plays a key role in delivering centralized laboratory glassware support services, including collection, processing, inspection, sanitization, and redistribution of laboratory materials to ensure uninterrupted laboratory workflows.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a laboratory support environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the creation, revision, and compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to laboratory and glassware processing activities.
  • Train and mentor team members on laboratory support procedures, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Collect, transport, and distribute laboratory glassware and plasticware while maintaining contamination control standards.
  • Follow approved procedures for handling contaminated and non-contaminated laboratory materials.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including autoclaves, glassware washers, dry heat sterilizers, and ultrasonic baths.
  • Prepare laboratory materials and components for sanitization according to established procedures.
  • Inspect processed glassware to verify cleanliness, quality, and usability prior to release.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities on laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain temperature records, equipment logs, and documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to laboratory leadership.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant laboratory support areas.
  • Adhere to environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional laboratory support teams and provide backup support when needed.
  • Demonstrate proper use of laboratory equipment and software following training.
 
Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline; OR
  • Associate degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years of relevant laboratory or operations experience; OR
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 5+ years of laboratory, manufacturing, or related operational experience.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous laboratory support or glassware processing experience.
  • Experience training or mentoring team members.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, or updating SOP documentation.
 
Work Environment
  • Work within laboratory and controlled environments while wearing required PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Fast-paced environment with demanding turnaround expectations.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout laboratory spaces.
  • Frequent bending, stretching, squatting, and reaching while operating equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual capability to inspect materials and equipment accurately.
  • Routine use of computers and office equipment.
  • May handle hazardous waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Exposure to laboratory-related hazards including chemicals, biological materials, and temperature-controlled environments.
  • May require medical clearance, respirator training, and fit testing based on laboratory requirements.
