Laboratory Information Systems Analyst - Blood Bank

Full-time, 40 Hours/week

Days, 8AM-4:30PM

Must reside in Ohio at the time of hire. This is a remote position; however, occasional onsite presence may be required based on business needs.

Summary:

The Laboratory Information Systems Analyst supports the daily operation, maintenance, optimization, and integration of the Laboratory Information System and related laboratory applications, instruments, middleware, and interfaces. This role partners with laboratory leadership, clinical users, Information Services, vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance, accurate data flow, regulatory compliance, and efficient laboratory workflows. This position does not include Epic Beaker support.

Responsibilities:

• Support daily operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of the LIS platforms and related laboratory applications.
• Maintain and support laboratory system build, test dictionaries, workflows, user access, rules, reports, and configuration changes.
• Coordinate upgrades, patches, enhancements, downtime planning, testing, validation, and implementation activities.
• Support laboratory instrument, middleware, and hospital system interfaces, including monitoring, issue resolution, testing, and change management.
• Partner with infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, application, and vendor teams to support operating system updates, server changes, application upgrades, and risk remediation.
• Analyze laboratory workflows and recommend system improvements to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance.
• Support regulatory, accreditation, and quality requirements, including documentation, validation, audit support, and change control.
• Provide end-user support, training, communication, and issue resolution for laboratory staff and related departments.
• Participate in project work related to new functionality, new instruments, new interfaces, system conversions, and process improvements.
• Share responsibility for after-hours or 24/7 support coverage as required.

Additional Qualifications

• Clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of laboratory workflows, including test ordering and resulting, specimen processing, blood bank processes.
• Understanding of healthcare interfaces and standards such as HL7 is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work with clinical, technical, vendor, and leadership stakeholders.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred.

2. Licensure: None required

3. Certification: Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician level with the American Society for Clinical Pathology [ASCP] is required.

4. Years of relevant experience: 2 years is preferred

5. Years of supervisory experience: None
