Position: Laboratory IT Support Analyst
Location: West Point, PA 19486 (Onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)
Pay Rate: $33.70/hr on W2

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Computing Analyst to join a dynamic laboratory IT support team supporting scientific and research environments. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting laboratory computing systems, instrument-connected workstations, and IT infrastructure within a regulated laboratory setting.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Windows-based environments, laboratory instrumentation, and desktop computing systems while delivering exceptional customer service to scientific and technical users.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for laboratory IT environments integrated with scientific instruments.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows-based workstations and laboratory computing systems.
  • Support desktop hardware, operating systems, peripherals, instrument-controlled software, and standard desktop applications.
  • Manage equipment onboarding, relocation, upgrades, and retirement activities.
  • Administer Windows security controls, including user permissions, group policies, file access, and local security settings.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, software, and instrument-related computer issues.
  • Coordinate and escalate infrastructure-related issues to appropriate internal teams and vendors.
  • Support system validation activities and change management processes in regulated environments.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of laboratory equipment, computers, software, and related assets.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies, security standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between laboratory users, instrument vendors, and IT support teams.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide regular status and activity reports.
  • Support additional enterprise IT initiatives and projects as needed.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in desktop and laboratory computing environments.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within established timelines.
  • Basic networking knowledge and computer support experience.
  • Experience repairing and troubleshooting instrument-connected computers.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and processes.
 
Education & Experience
One of the following is required:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of technical experience; OR
  • Associate Degree with 3+ years of technical experience; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with networking, remote computing, and backup systems.
  • Experience supporting scientific instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience working in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or Biotechnology environments.
  • Experience in validated environments and regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with GxP, FDA, ISO, or other compliance standards.
 
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed primarily within laboratory environments requiring PPE such as lab coats and safety glasses.
  • Approximately 80–90% hands-on laboratory support and 10–20% desk-based activities.
  • Must be comfortable moving between laboratories, offices, and onsite facilities throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stretching, and operating laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Exposure to laboratory environments that may include biological materials, chemicals, temperature-controlled areas, and other regulated conditions.
  • May be required to complete safety training, medical clearance, respiratory protection training, and fit testing.
 
Additional Information
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an IT support or laboratory computing environment preferred.
  • Driving within the campus/site may occasionally be required.
  • Candidates should be eager to learn, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced scientific environment.
