Laboratory Maintenance Assistant - Cellular, Molecular, and Genetic Medicine, School of Medicine

Position Responsibilities:

The Department of Cellular, Molecular, and Genetic Medicine (CMGM) is in search of a Lab Maintenance Assistant to perform a variety of routine non-technical duties inassisting with research laboratories. Position will help to decommission laboratory space that is no longer inuse.  This will include cleaning andsterilizing research equipment to prepare for surplus, disposal of chemicals inaccordance with environmental health and safety regulations, and disposal ofnon-research related items in the space. The position will work independently to resolve most standard issues andrefer complex issues to department administration.  

Minimum Hiring Standards: 

• Experience with a research laboratory environment
• Experience with basic laboratory chemicals
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a hourly employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience at VCU within laboratories orenvironmental health and safety
