Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory Manager to support day-to-day research laboratory functions within a highly collaborative academic and clinical research environment. This role is responsible for managing laboratory operations, maintaining scientific equipment, supporting sample and tissue processing activities, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and partnering closely with researchers, faculty, sponsors, and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have strong tissue culture experience, experience handling biological samples, and the ability to manage laboratory data, equipment, inventory, and quality processes in a fast-paced research setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, EH&S standards, IRB requirements, and laboratory best practices
  • Perform collection, processing, handling, and storage of biological samples including blood, PBMCs, biopsies, and surgical tissue specimens
  • Conduct tissue culture activities, including cell culture work on biopsy samples
  • Perform mycoplasma testing and cytokine analysis experiments using MSD platforms and related laboratory methodologies
  • Generate, maintain, analyze, and organize experimental and sample-related data with accurate documentation and recordkeeping
  • Coordinate and schedule sample shipments to core laboratories, sponsoring companies, and collaborating research partners
  • Collaborate closely with Principal Investigators (PIs), sponsoring companies, researchers, and cross-functional teams to support research objectives and study timelines
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, adapt, and coordinate repairs for laboratory and scientific equipment as needed
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance across laboratory operations
  • Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, consumables, and equipment maintenance needs
  • Develop, improve, and support laboratory procedures, workflows, and operational processes
  • Prepare and maintain timely data logs, laboratory documentation, and sample tracking records
  • Assist with budget-related activities, equipment evaluations, and operational planning as needed
  • Ensure proper waste handling and disposal procedures in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of laboratory experience in a research, academic, clinical, or regulated laboratory environment
  • Strong hands-on tissue culture experience required (primary skill set for this role)
  • Experience handling and processing biological samples including blood, PBMCs, biopsies, and tissue specimens
  • Experience with cell culture, mycoplasma testing, cytokine analysis, and related laboratory assays preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory compliance standards, including EH&S, IRB, and quality documentation practices
  • Experience maintaining laboratory records, data logs, and sample tracking systems with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and support routine laboratory operations independently
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with researchers, faculty, sponsors, and external partners
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory data management systems preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, waste disposal regulations, and quality control procedures required
