Job Title: Laboratory/Pathologists Assistant
Location: Winston-Salem, NC (On Site)
Duration: 16 Weeks
Shift Hours: Day Shift | 5x8-Hour | Monday Friday | 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
<.> Required Skills & Experience- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant.
- Previous travel assignment experience required.
- Experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting.
- Proficient in macroscopic description of gross anatomic features.
- Experience performing gross examination and dissection of large and complex specimens.
- Experience performing gross examination and dissection of small biopsy specimens.
- Tissue preparation and histological processing experience.
- Surgical pathology specimen sectioning.
- Specimen fixation, receipt, labeling, and handling.
- Tissue sampling for microscopic examination.
- Ability to obtain and review patient clinical information including scans, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
- Tumor triage experience.
- Adult and fetal autopsy experience.
- Evisceration experience.
<.> Required Certifications- ASCP Certified Pathologists' Assistant (PA-ASCP)
<.> Preferred Skills & Experience- Specimen accessioning.
- Frozen section preparation, cutting, and staining.
- Postmortem examination experience.
- Brain and spinal cord removal during autopsies.
- Gross and microscopic photography.
- Master's Degree preferred.
<.> Job Description- Perform gross examination, dissection, and description of surgical pathology specimens.
- Prepare tissue samples for histologic processing and microscopic examination.
- Assist pathologists by accurately documenting specimen findings and ensuring proper tissue sampling.
- Review patient clinical history and relevant diagnostic information to support pathology evaluations.
- Participate in tumor triage and specimen management processes.
- Perform adult and fetal autopsies, including evisceration and organ examination.
- Ensure proper specimen fixation, accessioning, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Maintain compliance with laboratory policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize EPIC for documentation and communication.
- Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and healthcare teams to support diagnostic services.
