Job Summary and Qualifications The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately f ollowing hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. What you will do in this role: You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods. You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger stick s , heel sticks or venipuncture s and collect other specimens as required . You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer. You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments. You will assist with clerical duties by answer ing telephone calls. What Qualifications Will You Need: Phlebotomy certification preferred . Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required ; additional 6 months experience preferred . If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences. Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
