The Laboratory Scientist performs tasks to support the medical providers in the areas of specimen processing and testing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and validates Immuno-Assay and LCMS toxicology methods and assays.
  • Processes samples to obtain quantitative and qualitative results.
  • Monitors and maintains LCMS and Immuno-Assay instrumentation in accordance with lab procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with CLIA, Company and any other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates and interprets testing results.
  • Assists with the development of laboratory SOPs, as directed.
  • Conducts supply inventory and stocks the lab with appropriate materials related to the Scientist position.
  • Remains current in scientific study, as mandated by CLIA.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with CLIA, Company and any other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to Infection Control, Safety and OSHA standards as specified by CLIA, and Company standards.
  • Prepare solutions and buffers.
  • Processes samples for testing in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Establishes and monitors Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs to ensure data accuracy, as mandated by CLIA.
  • Analyzes specimens for prescribed medications and toxic components.
  • Reviews and confirms lab results/reports for accuracy.
  • Enters lab results/reports into the LIS.
  • Properly maintains the lab and work areas.
  • Accurately and efficiently completes assigned daily tasks by end of each day.
  • Participate in and complete all required trainings and in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study AND two (2) years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, as specified by CLIA.
  • Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
  • Must have two (2) years’ experience working with Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) instrumentation.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.
  • Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification.
  • One (1) year of prior experience working in a laboratory.
  • One (1) year of prior experience working with a Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Driving/Travel:

The employee must have reliable transportation. While the primary workplace may be closest to the employee’s home, work assignments could be in any of the Company’s locations.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay Range: $75,000/year - $85,000/year
  • PTO: Up to 96 hours in first year (pro-rated based on start date)
