POSITION SUMMARY:
We are excited to announce the opening of a Laboratory Specialist position in our Sample Processing team. This will be a perfect opportunity for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific Discipline with a good general knowledge of biology and chemistry, who is accomplished performing complex laboratory tasks according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and is seeking the next step in their career development.
Processes laboratory samples daily under broad supervision of the Supervisor. Performs all procedures according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Participates in various trainings as required. Maintains highest standards in the laboratory and always follows all GXP guidelines (for example Good Documentation Practice, Good Lab Practice etc).
Candidates must be located in the New Jersey area and able to work onsite at Sampled’s Headquarters in Piscataway.
To support 24/7 hours operation of the Laboratory, this position requires a shift pattern of Thursday to Monday, starting at 2.30pm and finishing at 10.30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides professional-level laboratory sample processing.
- Performs multistage purifications, other assays, and tests; the propagation of non-animal specimens and cell cultures; the preparation of tissues, chemicals, and/or living subjects for testing.
- Logs and enters computer records of sample identity data and sample processing data.
- Maintains and updates the laboratory LIMS system in real time.
- Reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a weekly basis, and completes trainings on all SOP revisions in a timely manner.
- Inventory: store, and track extracted samples in a variety of freezer storage systems.
- Completion of all activity logs and maintenance logs for any samples processed according to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
- Good general knowledge of biology and chemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex laboratory tasks according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) under broad supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand scientific data, charts, and graphs.
- Must be able to read and understand technical documents, operate scientific instruments and computers, perform detailed work, and manage multiple tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication, and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
- Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong organization skills, with attention to priorities, effectively meeting deadlines and responding in a timely manner.
- Strong mathematics and analytical skills
- Preferably will have experience in working with LabVantage or equivalent Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Experience preferred in DNA and/or biochemical extraction, blood cell separation, laboratory reagent preparation and biohazardous material handling.
- Requires knowledge of scientific empirical procedures.
Salary range $55,000 to $65,000. Salary level will be reflective of qualifications, skills and experience.
