6510-Histology - LMG - Laboratory Supervisor - Night Shift
JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Pathologists and Laboratory Manager in planning objectives and scope of laboratory services. Supervises daily activities, including proper staffing levels, to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of services.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing; or
- Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical technology with at least two years of training and/or experience in high complexity testing; or
- Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a general supervisor prior to 2/28/1992
- Current ASCP certification (HT)
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Histotechnician
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to Director of Operations and Laboratory Manager
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged sitting
- Repetitive hand, wrist and shoulder motion
- Lifting up to 25 lbs. occasionally
- Detail oriented

ADMINISTRATIVE:
- Manages the daily activities of the laboratory to ensure quality services are rendered in an efficient and timely manner
- Maintains and assists with continual compliance as required by standards of accrediting or regulatory agencies
- Establishes and monitors the standards of accuracy, precision and efficiency in performance of laboratory tests or the operation of equipment. Takes corrective action and documents results.
- Maintains quality of laboratory work complying with accreditation standards.
- Assures compliance with laboratory safety and infection control policies.
- Monitor all quality assurance activities within the department.
- Assists with recruiting efforts and participates in the termination process as required.
- Monitors employee performance, completes and conducts periodic evaluations, counsels and disciplines as necessary in accordance with guidelines.
- Oversees employee schedules, approves timesheets, approves and monitors PTO to ensure availability to effectively handle daily activities.
- Trains and updates team on new policies/procedures.
- Accessible to the laboratory as needed for on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation.
- Able to perform all duties of a Histotechnician.
