The Health Professions Laboratory Supervisor coordinates and monitors operational activities in numerous disciplines within the Health Professions division. This position collaborates directly with faculty and department heads to coordinate and implement student laboratory activities in a variety of healthcare disciplines, including clinical simulation center activities. The Laboratory Supervisor manages the purchasing, disbursement, and reconciliation of College laboratory resources across disciplines. The Laboratory Supervisor interprets policies and oversees the development and implementation of procedures and protocols.
The work schedule for this position is variable and subject to change each semester or as operational needs arise and may include early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
Oversees daily lab operation and manages workflow. Creates project schedules and monitors employee productivity. Develops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Evaluates operations and activities for effectiveness.
Supervises health professions laboratory staff. Prepares areas and classrooms to ensure proper safety measures are met and maintained. Coordinates with Instructional Faculty to develop laboratory activities and establish equipment parameters. Resolves conflicts concerning lab schedules, lab preparation, and lab supply quality.
Schedules meetings, gathers agenda items, and handles inquiries. Coordinates and manages the Health Sciences videotaping projects.
Trains, guides, and supports employees. Works with employees to set goals, identify professional development needs, and coordinate cross-training. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback.
Plans, selects, coordinates, and recommends work procedures and facility changes and equipment needs to include: researching new products and technology; communicating with outside vendors; and making recommendations for purchases.
Manages budgetary accounts and expenses through the fiscal year for divisional campus level. Purchases equipment and materials for health professions laboratory activities, approves and reconciles purchases, and works with discipline leadership to ensure budget goals are met.
Researches, develops, implements, and manages all aspects of safety training for staff and students. Ensures safety of equipment and college policy and local, state, and federal laws are followed. Develops policies and advises faculty and staff on safe usage and handling of materials.
Participates in communication with faculty, dean, and laboratory specialists to ensure student success and safety measures are met in the classroom setting.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Bachelor's degree in a closely related field of study and
Three (3) to Five (5) years of related experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above
and
May require specialized certification, including a Hazardous Materials Certification, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Preferred:
Five plus (5+) years of related experience in an institution of higher learning
Knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and practices.
Knowledge of skilled trades expertise required to complete assigned responsibilities for the position
Knowledge of project management principles
Knowledge of laboratory equipment used in health professions programs
Skill in budget/resource management
Skill in coordinating and monitoring the work of others
Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
Skill in organization, coordination, and management
Ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills
Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as draw conclusions and prepare accurate reports of results
Ability to operate relevant equipment required to complete assigned responsibilities for the position
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
