    The Laboratory Supervisor - Medical Oncology is responsible for delivering direct patient care while providing frontline operational and supervisory support within the Medical Oncology department. This role serves as an essential extension of departmental leadership, supporting daily workflows, staff coordination, and patient while balancing clinical responsibilities.

    • Provides frontline supervision to clinical support staff, serving as the first point of contact for daily questions, guidance, and problem solving while fostering a collaborative and team-oriented work environment.
    • Supports daily unit operations and workflow coordination by monitoring patient flow, identifying barriers, and addressing routine operational issues to maintain timely and effective clinic operations.
    • Coordinates and manages staff scheduling and timekeeping processes, including weekly schedules, review and approval of timecards, and management of PTO requests to ensure appropriate staffing.
    • Performs and coordinates laboratory-related clinical tasks including electronic order entry for labs and phlebotomy, specimen collection and preparation, and processing of some labs in accordance with established protocols, policies, and quality standards.
    • Responds to daily staffing needs, including management of calls outs and facilitating coverage to maintain continuity of care and operational efficiency.
    • Assists with onboarding and training new staff, providing guidance on workflows, processes, and departmental expectations to support successful integration into the team.
    • Respond promptly and professionally to patients and visitors, staff, and provider needs to promote positive patient and employee experience.
    • Provides direct patient care and clinical support within the Medical Oncology department, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, height and weight, completing medication reconciliation and allergy review, and assisting with maintaining efficient patient flow and throughput.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    Experience:

    • One (1) year experience as a phlebotomist
    • Or, One (1) year experience in a clinical experience in a laboratory setting
    • Or, At least one (1) year clinical experience in a health care setting (preferably medical office/clinic)
