Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician performs testing and analysis on data center and hydraulic products, operates specialized laboratory equipment, prepares samples, collects and reports test data, and supports engineering development activities. This role is hands-on and highly technical, requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic laboratory environment that supports multiple locations and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and analysis on data center and hydraulic products in accordance with established procedures and testing requirements.
  • Operate specialized laboratory equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery and systems.
  • Prepare samples accurately for testing, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and documentation.
  • Collect, record, and report test data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Use metrology and measurement tools such as calipers and other precision instruments to verify test conditions and results.
  • Conduct routine machinery maintenance and use hand tools and heavy equipment safely and effectively as required for test setups.
  • Support engineering development activities by executing test plans, providing test data, and assisting with analysis of results.
  • Set up and utilize data acquisition systems to capture, monitor, and analyze test parameters and performance.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot test-related equipment issues and procedural problems to ensure reliable and repeatable test outcomes.
  • Follow laboratory procedures, safety guidelines, and quality assurance practices in a manufacturing and lab setting.
  • Perform mathematical calculations needed for test setups, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to document test procedures, record results, and communicate with team members.
  • Work both independently and as part of a tight-knit team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive lab environment.
  • Manage time effectively to meet testing schedules, training objectives, and project deadlines.
  • Participate in training aligned with the applicable Training Matrix and demonstrate progression of skills and knowledge over time.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in relevant laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of product lines such as data centers, hoses, couplings, belts, and tensioners.
  • Experience and knowledge of data centers, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and/or electrical machinery and systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools, heavy equipment, and machinery maintenance.
  • Understanding of mechanical laboratory test equipment and measurement tools, including metrology and calipers.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, laboratory settings, or quality assurance environments.
  • Attention to detail in following procedures, taking data, and understanding testing requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot test-related equipment and procedural issues.
  • Ability to set up and utilize data acquisition systems for testing and data collection.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory environment that supports a variety of projects, including work for additional locations. The Impulse Laboratory has a high noise level, and hearing protection is required; noise levels in other areas are moderate. Safety shoes and eye protection are required in various parts of the lab, reflecting a strong emphasis on safety and proper use of equipment. The team operates as a tight-knit group, offering mutual support and opportunities to grow into senior technician, trainer, or subject matter expert positions, with career progression earned through experience. The position follows 12-hour shifts on a continental schedule (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off), with working hours from 4:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

This is a Contract position based out of Englewood, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
