This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding water quality and public health.

As a Laboratory Technician, you'll be responsible for collecting, preparing, and analyzing water samples from critical locations throughout the drinking water distribution system. Your work will include bacteriological testing and compliance monitoring as required by regulatory agencies.

  • Conduct sample collection for water and wastewater testing across various locations
  • Perform detailed analysis for a variety of water quality indicators
  • Document processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with team members and external contacts to maintain quality and accuracy
  • Contribute to public health initiatives by ensuring the water you test is safe for consumption

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in biology, chemistry or related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Requires a driver's license and a driving record in compliance with the City Driving Standards .

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred software skills include Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Access.
