A Day in the Life

As a Laboratory Technician I in our Orange, CA Laboratory, you'll be responsible for preparing samples, support daily lab operations, and collaborate with experienced teammates - delivering safe, accurate, on-time results every day.

The compensation range for this role is $18 to $23, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Department: SVOA (Semi-Volatiles)

Schedule: Full-Time. Mon - Fri 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (2nd Shift)

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Performa all Laboratory Assistant duties, including sample handling, organization, and general laboratory upkeep
  • Retrieve, store, and dispose of samples in accordance with SOPs, chain of custody, and hold-time requirements
  • Execute routine sample preparation for assigned SVOA methods under established SOPs
  • Prepare reagents and solutions following approved procedures
  • Perform gravimetric and titrimetric measurements as required
  • Support daily batch preparation and completion to meet turnaround time expectations
  • Perform waste handling, labeling, and documentation in compliance with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Maintain inventory awareness and notify senior staff of low or critical supplies
  • Maintain clean, organized, and contamination-controlled workspaces
  • Complete temperature logs and routine laboratory documentation accurately
  • Communicate workflow issues, delays, or deviations to senior technicians, analysts, or group leadership
  • Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan
  • All other duties as assigned

Your Expertise and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Associate degree or coursework in science preferred)
  • Basic understanding of laboratory workflows and sample preparation concepts
  • Ability to follow SOPs precisely and work methodically
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety practices, PPE usage, and waste handling
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with chemicals, solvents, and laboratory equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to required weight limits

Preferred Skills

  • Prior Laboratory or sample preparation experience (environmental preferred)
  • Familiarity with Semi-Volatile methods (8015/8080/8270) or environmental testing workflows
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment
