Job Overview:
Pay Range: $17.80hr - $22.80hr
Requirement/Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in plant science, Agronomy, Biology, Biotechnology, Entomology, Genetics, Crop Science, or a related life sciences field.
- Experience working in a laboratory, greenhouse, and/or agricultural field research environment.
- Experience collecting, processing, and tracking biological samples.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and data management tools.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to accurately manage large numbers of samples and associated data.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Support plant tissue sampling and processing activities in both field and greenhouse environments, including tissue collection, lyophilization, sample weighing, equipment cleaning, laboratory organization, inventory management, and preparation of samples for downstream analytical testing.
- Maintain and manage tissue sample tracking systems and databases to ensure accurate sample identification, documentation, and traceability.
- Collaborate effectively with research scientists, expression laboratories, and field teams to facilitate timely sample submission and data flow.
- Partner with the Greenhouse Lead to execute routine greenhouse operations, including tissue sampling and submission, plant movement, organization, maintenance, and housekeeping activities that support research objectives.
- Assist the Assay Lead with insect bioassays and experimental studies, including assay setup, execution, data collection, and documentation.
- Contribute to assay development, optimization, and continuous improvement efforts in both laboratory and greenhouse settings.
- Provide operational support for laboratory assays and experiments, coordinating with team leads to plan and execute weekly research activities.
- Assist with laboratory upkeep, equipment maintenance, and implementation of best practices to ensure efficient and high-quality research operations.
- Support field research activities as needed, including tissue sample collection, trial support, and other research-related tasks that contribute to the successful execution of Trait Performance programs.
