Title- Laboratory Technician
Location- Johnston, IA, USA, 50131
Duration- 8 months contract 
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Core Responsibilities:

• This position involves working in laboratory, greenhouse, and
  field settings.

The position responsibilities include:

• Plant sampling, DNA extraction, high-throughput PCR, and laboratory inventory sample management.
• The position is 100% site-based, with occasional driving required.
• With guidance from supervisor, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
• Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

Educational Requirements:

• BS in Science (Chemistry, Biology, or related fields) is strongly preferred.
• Those working toward a BS in Science with previous laboratory experience will be considered.

Safety and Compliance:

• Understands and follows Environmental Health and Safety standards.
• Use of safety procedures & appropriate PPE mandated.

Additional Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with effective documentation and communication of results.
• Good organization skills with the ability to follow standard operating procedures and adhere to safety protocols.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
