Pay Range: $26.06 - $36.08

Responsible for onsite daily operations of moderate complexity laboratories and performs a wide range of waived and moderate complexity testing. This position will also perform the duties of a Limited Scope Radiology Technician (LSRT). This position is critical in meeting accreditation and regulatory requirements and helping provide high quality laboratory services to internal and external customers.

Shift Details Monday-Friday 08:00 am to 5:00 pm Rotational weekends and Holidays

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Performs phlebotomy on all age groups.
  • Performs all the necessary steps in processing specimens which includes labeling, centrifugation, testing, storage, and sending out specimens to reference laboratory.
  • Assures all maintenance is performed and meets established laboratory and accreditation guidelines.
  • Ensures QC performed when required and takes corrective action if needed.
  • Performs daily QA review to ensure that other testing staff is meeting established laboratory and accreditation guidelines.
  • Performs administrative work associated with lab processes. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining patient and laboratory records, providing coding with laboratory information to code visit, and performs annual laboratory competency training for the nursing staff per established laboratory and accreditation guidelines if CLIA eligible.
  • Inventories and orders departmental supplies to facilitate uninterrupted operation of the laboratory.
  • May start IV saline locks as allowed within scope of practice.
  • Performs x-ray exams under the limited scope radiology technician (LSRT) approved exams.
  • Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions when needed.
  • Verifies two patient identifiers.
  • Provide quality customer service, explains all studies to patients in a clear manner, provide information and resources to patient and family.
  • Safely transfers patients to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs utilizing multiple lifting devices.
  • Positions the patient, ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, well-stocked room.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in a medical field preferred.
  • LSRT Certification OR completion of LSRT certification (Healthcare Provider Diagnostic X-Ray Imaging Program) within 90 days of hire into role.
  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.

Experience Required

  • Associate's Degree: No experience required.
  • 2 years' experience in a medical setting.
  • Successful completion of in-house laboratory training program is required post-hire for continued employment.

Knowledge of

  • Basic laboratory principles.
  • Patient confidentiality issues.
  • Established laboratory policies and procedures.

Skills in

  • Phlebotomy with all age groups.
  • Performing x-rays as approved by the LSRT policy and safe operation of imaging equipment.
  • Analysis and problem solving.
  • Oral and written communication.
  • Ability to document competency in taking x-rays, managing radiology equipment and reports.
  • To perform all tasks in a moderate complexity lab.
  • Multitask.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Perform work with minimal number of errors.
  • Lift approximately 30 pounds.
