We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Laboratory Technician to join our Personal Care Liquids team. In this role, you will directly support chemists and chemical engineers in formulating, testing, and scaling up the next generation of hand soaps and body washes. You will be responsible for preparing lab batches, conducting physical and chemical analysis, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring our laboratory operates with high efficiency and precision.
Job Responsibilities
Batching & Formulation Support: Prepare lab-scale and pilot batches of liquid hand soaps and body washes in accordance with standardized formulas, SOPs, and experimental designs.
Physical & Analytical Testing: Perform routine physical and chemical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products (e.g., pH, viscosity/rheology, specific gravity, color, appearance, and stability evaluation).
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance: Safely handle, store, and dispose of reagents and raw materials. Maintain thorough application of GHS pictograms and guidelines to ensure proper chemical labeling, hazard communication, and usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation (viscometers, pH meters, mixers, homogenizers). Keep detailed records of instrument checks and routine maintenance.
Documentation & Record Keeping: Meticulously document test data, experimental steps, and observations using Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN) and internal databases following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred).
Safety Knowledge: Clear understanding and practical knowledge of GHS (Globally Harmonized System) pictograms, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical hazard classifications, and standard laboratory safety procedures.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and maneuver equipment, sample pails, and raw material containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
Proficiency in standard lab techniques (weighing, volumetric measurements, titration, pH, viscosity).
High attention to detail, strong organizational habits, and comfortable working in a dynamic lab environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting experimental findings.
0 to 2 years of practical laboratory experience in a consumer-packaged goods (CPG), personal care, cosmetic, or specialty chemical setting. (zero years if new grad flexible on years of experience)
Technical understanding of liquid personal care formulations, including surfactants, rheology modifiers, active delivery, and emulsion stability.
Familiarity with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) guidelines and data management software.
