Location: Philadelphia, PA 19112
Pay Rate: $26.00–$28.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shift
Start Time: Flexible start between 6:00 AM–9:00 AM; employees must commit to a consistent daily start time
End Time: Approximately 2:30 PM–5:30 PM, depending on selected start time

Overview

The Laboratory Technician – Polymer Synthesis supports research and development activities involving polymer synthesis, chemical experimentation, and product development. This hands-on laboratory role works closely with Chemists and Engineers to conduct experiments, analyze results, troubleshoot issues, maintain laboratory operations, and accurately document research findings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct polymer synthesis experiments and collect experimental data.
• Assist Chemists and Engineers with research, development, and product development projects.
• Analyze, document, interpret, and communicate laboratory results.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues and recommend process or testing improvements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, supplies, and work areas.
• Prepare reports and track research data using Microsoft Office applications.
• Follow established procedures for chemical handling, storage, disposal, and laboratory safety.
• Manage multiple laboratory activities while meeting project timelines and deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field OR at least 4 years of relevant laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with laboratory procedures, chemical handling, and experimental testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to accurately document experiments and interpret test results.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals and follow established laboratory safety procedures.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience synthesizing polymers or organic compounds in an industrial laboratory environment.
• Experience independently designing and conducting polymer synthesis experiments.
• Research and development experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.

Education Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; prior professional laboratory experience is not required.
• At least 4 years of relevant laboratory experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
