Laboratory Technician

Location Rockport INCleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works has an immediate opportunity for a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing multiple required tests on materials per the Quality Standard Operating Procedures QSOP.Summary of ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates a strong commitment to safety and quality by following all JSHAs and QSOPs and participating in daily safety and quality meetings.Collects receives and properly handles production and analytical samples ensuring correct identification and testing priority.Performs mechanical and chemical testing including tensile strength elongation grain structure corrosion carbonsulfur oxygen chromate and phosphate analyses.Accurately records reports and communicates test results using Labware and approved data systems.Conducts safety and quality observations to support compliance and continuous improvement.Verifies maintains and documents calibration and performance checks of laboratory equipment and instruments.Collaborates with production teams to support analytical and formability testing needs.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentAbility to interact with peers and management in a positive mannerAdapts effectively to changing plans and prioritiesAbility to work rotating schedule including nights weekends and holidaysAbility to work in a manufacturing environmentApplicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United Stated on a full-time basisPreferred QualificationsSolid computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Office productsCleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
