Physical Requirements
Moving and lifting object from floor to above shoulders up to 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Continuous working with materials requiring personal protective equipment in accord with EH&S policy.
Shift
Primarily Days Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends are possible due to experimentation.
Job Summary
Lab Technician Senior position to participate in studies of the genomics and physiology of the sense of smell and its relationship to dementia.
Responsibilities include mouse husbandry, ordering supplies, organizational tasks, assisting with mouse surgeries and dissections, administering odor perception tests to human subjects, and performing other experiments.
The successful applicant is expected to be highly organized, proficient in English, work well with others, and to have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Proficient and IACUC compliant small animal care; basic lab skills (e.g., pipetting); basic computer skills (e.g., MS word, excel, PowerPoint); strong oral and written communication skills.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience
BA/BS degree in a related field plus two or more years of paid working experience in a research laboratory preferred.
