Responsibilities:

Summary:

Under general supervision, cuts and maintains lawns and/or grass. Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees or shrubs.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons by performing general maintenance upkeep functions for the facility such as mowing, trimming, edging, planting, clipping, pruning, shearing, spraying, hosing, sprinkling, washing, burning, cutting, light snow removal, sweeping, repairing, cleaning, and mopping as directed by management.
• May need to arrange large scale snow or dirt removal.
• May assist in determining the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas.
• Maintains required inventory, issues control and accountability of tool, equipment and hazardous materials.
• May assist in unloading trucks and moving supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training in a janitorial or groundskeeper capacity.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
