Duties

Help

  • Maintains ball washers, replaces tee towels, and flags when needed, removes debris, empty garbage containers, and cleans flowerbeds.
  • Assists in the maintenance of course grounds and facilities using simple powered equipment such as clippers, string trimmers, low- pressure sprayers, power blowers, powered pavement vacuums, and wet vacuums or steam cleaners. Rakes and maintains sand bunkers, sets tee markers and cups on greens daily, maintains ball washers removes debris. Loads, unloads, moves, and stacks bulky items from trucks and other conveyances using hand trucks or dollies.
  • Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawn mowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper.
  • Digs ditches, holes where grading and sloping is not required, fill holes with dirt and level bumps using shovels, hand tampers, and rakes.
  • Digs holes for plants, irrigation system, and tee boxes. Performs other related work as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

  • No previous experience or training is required.
  • Must possess a valid state drivers license appropriate for the size and type of vehicle operated.
  • Experience in operating on or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVE of up to 10,000 pounds such as a pickup truck, sedan, van, jeep, etc.
  • Experience of defensive driving techniques is desired, including skills to recognize developing hazardous road and traffic conditions and the judgement to select alternate routes to avoid potential problems.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

Joint Base Langley-Eustis, located in Hampton on the southeastern coast of Virginia, is one of the oldest facilities in the Air Force. Hampton Roads is the birthplace of Colonial America where centuries of American history blend with the most modern technology, the richest culture, the liveliest nightlife, and a breathtaking landscape surrounded by water.

The unit services more than 9,000 active-duty, approximately 2,000 civilian personnel, 64 senior raters, 61,000 retirees and family members. We serve to provide "A Better Life for Force and Family" for our military community, through support programs for our military/civilian members and their families. Our motto is "Force, Family and Fun."

As an integral part of the 633 Force Support Squadron, the NAF Human Resource Office provides essential personnel services to over 375 NAF civilian employees assigned to numerous FSS activities. Those activities include child development and youth centers, the Langley Club, a golf course, bowling center, auto hobby shop, community center, marina, an outdoor recreation program, indoor and outdoor pools, and various administrative support offices - just to name a few.
