These positions are Temporary for the 120th House and Senate Congressional Moves. The job term may end when projects are completed, or funding expires.
This position will be used to fill Day and Night shifts.
Shifts will be determined and or change based on Operational Needs of Management. Hours may change depending on Operational Needs of Management
The Laborer (Recycler)'s will perform a wide range of laborer duties in support of the House Office Buildings and the Senate Office Buildings during the 120th Congressional moves.
Responsibilities:
Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies and heavy construction building materials and supplies to and from trucks; moves heavy boxes and cartons by hand, hand truck or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears; and stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
Collects trash and debris, including horticultural debris, from Congressional Buildings and surrounding grounds. Empties trash, garbage and other debris from receptacles located throughout the building and the grounds.
Provides set-up and support for special events. Sets up dining areas, meeting rooms, auditoriums, classrooms, etc., in various configurations for many types of events.
Moves and arranges furniture and equipment for changes in room assignments or room configurations. Moves items that may weigh more than 80 lbs.
Assists the shop offices' trades personnel with short-term repair and construction projects.
Pre-vacuums or moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment as necessary. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors with appropriate powered equipment including heavy buffing machines.
Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Collects and sorts recyclable material, including aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles, newspaper and paper, from various locations within the buildings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Please Note: This position is temporary and subject to the project needs of the Agency. If project work continues, however, it could be extended beyond the 13 months-time frame at the sole discretion of the Agency.
