The Registered Nurse - Lactation Consultant assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care according to hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and care standards. The Registered Nurse - Lactation Consultant provides patients and families with the information, education, skills, and clinical treatments essential to the successful attainment of their feeding goals. Identifies treatment plans for the management of lactation problems, acts as a breastfeeding resource for medical and nursing staff and promotes breastfeeding as the preferred feeding method for newborns.

Education:

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Will consider other nursing degrees on an individual basis

Experience:

  • Experience working with mothers and newborns in a hospital, clinic, or community setting

Certification/License:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin
  • IBCLC or CLC with a commitment to obtain IBCLC within first year of hire
